Hello! I'm Matthew!

I'm from Wilmington, North Carolina but have spent my last several years learning the craft of Broadcast Journalism in Central Pennsylvania.  During that time, I also obtained a minor in Theatre.  As a freshman starting in the Fall of 2014 I knew that being a part of a newsroom or production of some kind was something I wanted to include in my future.

My intended Graduation date will be the Spring of 2018 and it is my hope that the experiences I have partaken in will prepare me for the future I intend to pursue.  I have taken numerous courses like newspaper writing, radio reporting and television reporting to prepare me for a life within the field.  I have also taken professional courses like Podcasting as well as TV News.  Both of which were making content for professional sources.

Podcasting allowed me to help write, record and edit together professional NPR style for the Huck Institute of Science.  We were also able to create more casual interview style podcasting to explore the growing medium.

I have been heavily involved with Centre County Report an award winning student produced news broadcast.  The broadcast is shown in 26 counties throughout Pennsylvania.  I have served as a reporter, anchor, producer, floor director, graphics producer, technical director, director, and executive producer.

I have also been involved in 46 Live which is our webcast of the schools dance marathon.  We are broadcasted live during the duration of the 46 hour marathon.  I have served as part of the general crew, host and executive producer.

This website is a compilation of my work but if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.  Thank you and please enjoy!

Broadcast Journalist

Hello, my name is Matthew Schaefer and I am currently a Senior at The Pennsylvania State University in pursuit of a degree in Broadcast Journalism.  I'm originally from Wilmington, North Carolina but traveled to Pennsylvania to study at the University Park campus.  As an aspiring reporter, I have put together this site to help promote some of my work.  This will include highlights from print, radio and television reports.

I eagerly await for what is to come with my post graduation career in this field.  Please feel free to browse some of my work from my time as a student.  My aspirations as to my future in the newsroom include being a potential reporter, host or producer.
